BCAA Emergency Medical Insurance Plans

BCAA offers single trip and multi-trip annual medical plans, as well as trip cancellation and interruption policies for individuals and families.

BCAA Single Trip Emergency Medical Plan for Individuals

The BCAA Single Trip plan includes $10 million for emergency medical coverage and a $300,000 optional coverage if you have an unstable pre-existing medical condition. This plan doesn’t come with trip cancellation or interruption or baggage insurance, but you can arrange for add-on cancellation, interruption, baggage, travel accident and air travel accident coverage.

Coverage is available for worldwide, worldwide excluding the USA, or within Canada trips.

BCAA Multi-Trip (Annual) Emergency Medical Plan for Individuals

The BCAA Multi-Trip plan is designed for Canadians who travel outside of British Columbia two or more times a year. It includes 10 million in emergency medical coverage, and $300,000 optional coverage if you have an unstable pre-existing medical condition.

This plan doesn’t come with trip cancellation or interruption or baggage insurance, but you can arrange for add-on coverage for trip cancellation and interruption, baggage, travel accident, and air travel accident.

Coverage is available for worldwide, worldwide excluding the USA, or within Canada trips.

You can select a maximum trip length of 3, 8, 15, 30, 60, 90, 150, 183 or 365 days.

BCAA Trip Cancellation and Interruption Plan for Individuals

The BCAA Trip Cancellation plan protects you in case your trip is cancelled or interrupted as a result of sickness, injury or death when travelling, if there is a travel advisory warning, missed connections and more. It also covers non-refundable prepaid expenses like cancellation penalties and airline tickets.

This plan doesn’t come with baggage insurance, but you can purchase additional baggage, travel accident and air travel accident coverage.

BCAA Single Trip Emergency Medical Plan for Families

The BCAA Medical Plan for Families is suitable for a family that is travelling outside of British Columbia once or twice a year.

The oldest member of this plan must be age 59 or under. This plan has a limit of two adults age 59 or younger, and includes all dependent children, grandchildren and/or your spouse. Family members do not need to reside in the same household or travel together.

It includes 10 million in emergency medical coverage, and $300,000 optional coverage if you have an unstable pre-existing medical condition.

This plan doesn’t come with trip cancellation or interruption or baggage insurance, but you can arrange for additional cancellation, interruption, baggage, travel accident and air travel accident coverage.

This Trip Cancellation Plan for Families is will cover you if your trip is cancelled or interrupted before or during your trip as a result of sickness, injury or death of you or your traveling companion, issuance of a travel advisory warning, missed connections and much more. Covered expenses include nonrefundable prepaid expenses such as airline tickets, hotel bookings and cancellation penalties.

This plan doesn’t come with baggage insurance, but you can get additional baggage, travel accident and air travel accident coverage as optional coverage add-ons.

BCAA Visitors to Canada Travel Insurance

This plan is for visitors to Canada as well as immigrants and returning Canadians awaiting provincial healthcare coverage.

The plan includes coverage up to $300,000 for hospital expenses, prescription drugs, ambulance services and medical care. You can get additional coverage for baggage, trip cancellation coverage and other additional expenses related to your trip. Coverage is good worldwide, except in the country of residence, as long as the majority of the time is spent in Canada.

Tips for Saving with BCAA Travel Insurance

  • If you are a member of BCAA, you can save 10 percent on travel insurance products.
  • If you’re traveling as a family, a family plan may be cheaper than buying single plans.

Refunds

The policy has a 10-DAY FULL REFUND PROVISION – You have 10 days starting from the application date of the Policy to
review this Policy to ensure it meets your Insurance needs. A full refund is available provided no travel has taken place.

Other refunds, including partial refunds for an early return home can be requested with proof of return and will be subject to a cancellation fee. All refund requests must be made in writing.

You Need to Know

  • You don’t need to be a BCAA member to buy travel insurance through BCAA but members get a 10 percent discount.
  • You must be a Canadian resident for individual and family plans.
  • For individual and family travel insurance plans, you should purchase insurance while you’re in British Columbia. If you have already left B.C., coverage may still be available, but you’ll need to call BCAA and speak to a representative.
  • For individual and family plans, you can’t be travelling against a physician’s advice, can’t have been diagnosed with a terminal condition and you can not be receiving palliative care or palliative care has not been recommended.
